Lithium-ion energy storage with long service life
As the successor to conventional lead-acid battery chemistry, lithium-ion batteries are highly effective energy storage devices for mobile and portable electrical equipment, as well as for compact and long-lasting emergency power supplies with optimal properties. Although more expensive to purchase than classic lead-gel batteries, lithium-ion technology enables particularly high energy densities, with space and weight savings of up to 75?%. Lithium is the lightest metal in the periodic table and simultaneously possesses ideal electrochemical properties for achieving high specific energy densities (Wh/kg). The number of charge cycles, the achievable depth of discharge (DoD), and the up to five times longer service life under comparable operating conditions are all significantly greater than with lead-gel batteries. The BMS (Battery Management System) monitors and controls the complete charging and discharging process of each energy storage cell. Integrated cell balancing ensures an even and balanced charge of all cells, so that the full capacity of the lithium-ion battery pack remains permanently available.
