Safe 10-year energy storage for DC UPS systems
For DC UPS energy storage with longer hold-up times, lithium-ion technology with high energy density is ideal. When selecting a safe Li-ion battery pack, it is advisable to consider the cathode material used. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) is a very stable chemical compound, offering increased safety and approximately ten times higher cycle stability (6,000 charge and discharge cycles) compared with conventional Li-ion cells (LCO/NMC). The high-quality LiFePO4 battery packs Bicker BP-LFP (heat-shrink tube) and BP-LFP-D (DIN rail) also feature an integrated high-performance battery management system (BMS) to optimise service life and safety. The BMS monitors and controls the complete charging and discharging process of each energy storage cell. Integrated cell balancing ensures an even and balanced charge of all cells, so that the full capacity of the lithium-ion battery pack remains permanently available.
