Are the connectors included in the scope of delivery of the UPSI?
Yes, the required connectors are included in the scope of delivery.
How should the device and battery be connected or disconnected? (applies to DIN-rail and open-frame variants)
Connection sequence:
- Connect UPS to Bat-PWR
- Connect UPS to Bat-Data
- Connect UPS to USB or RS232
- Connect UPS to the DC input voltage
Is it possible to adjust the charging power via software?
No. The charging power cannot be changed via software. Adjustments are only possible through hardware modifications.
Which software should be used – UPScom or UPSgen2?
- Pure configuration software
- Supports Windows 7 or higher
- Settings are stored in the UPS's EEPROM
- Communication via USB
- No installation required
- Can be used to update the firmware
- WASM application for various operating systems (x64 / x86)
- Allows starting scripts or sending emails
- Communication via RS232, RS485 (point-to-point) or USB
- Installation required, server runs in the background
Why do I hear a permanent clicking sound after switching on?
Possible causes:
- Overload at the UPS output
- Power supply undersized, power supply enters overload shutdown
Can multiple batteries or UPS units be operated in parallel or in series?
No. Parallel or series operation of batteries or UPS units is not permitted.
How can the UPS firmware be updated?
- Supply the UPS with 24 V DC supply voltage
- Connect the UPS to a PC via USB
- Start UPSgen2config version 2.4.2 or later
- In UPSgen2config, go to Info → Firmware Version
- Left-click on the firmware text
- Navigate to the firmware's storage location via "File"
- Select the firmware file
- Click Start
- Wait until the update process is complete
The UPS no longer connects to the software after a firmware update. What can I do?
This can happen if the watchdog is triggered during the update or if the supply voltage drops.
- Connect the UPS to the PC via USB
- Start UPSgen2config (version 2.4.2 or later)
- A drive named "CRPENABLED" appears under Windows
- Perform the firmware update again normally from this point
Can more power be drawn from the UPS output for a short time?
Yes. Details on this are described in the respective manual under "Output Power – DYN.BOOST".
Can the specified minimum or maximum temperature range be extended?
No. These are tested and approved limit values. An extension is not possible due to the cell technology used.
Where can I find the UPS communication protocol?
The communication protocol is documented in the UPSgen2config user manual.
Can the UPS be operated under Windows XP?
Yes, via a workaround using the XP UPS module or RUPS2000.
